The room was fairly small and smelt musty. There was a lot of dust on the furniture, which was only one wooden table and a wooden chair. Elizabeth coughed and flapped her hands to get rid of the dust. Everything looked old and worn out.

Elizabeth’s mother asked “So, where is the golden blade?”

There was nowhere to hide the blade so it must have been somewhere where both of the girls could see it.

“Patience,” said the shopkeeper. “It’s just under the floorboards.”

Then, Elizabeth realised that there floorboards in the room and that some of them were loose. There were nails all around the place and holes in the floor.

“Now, all I have to do is find it.” mumbled the shopkeeper. “If I can!”

Suddenly, a glint of light caught Elizabeth’s eye. It was the golden sword!

“There!” shouted Elizabeth. “The golden sword!”

“Oh, thank you!” said the shopkeeper.

Both of the adults bent down to open the floorboard. There was a lot of digging that was included.

“So, ahem, what’s your name?” quizzed the shopkeeper.

“My name’s Maria,” replied Elizabeth’s mother. “What’s yours?”

“Mine’s Benjamin.” answered the shopkeeper.

After a lot of hard work, the blade was finally revealed.

“Wow!” said Elizabeth.

The blade was gold all over and had jewels that were stuck to it. It looked very grand.

“So, this is what the man left me.” said Benjamin.

All of a sudden, a dark, floating figure came out of nowhere and started to scream. The whole room was shaking as if there was an earthquake.

“Mum!” squealed Elizabeth.

“Don’t worry!” said Maria.

Then, the dark figure started to light up. Slowly and ever so slightly, the thing that looked like a ghost grew bigger and bigger.

“Maria, hand me the blade!” said Benjamin.

Maria threw the blade to Benjamin and he caught it. Then, he stabbed the ghost right in the centre of his body. After that, it disappeared, leaving the terrorised people on the floor.
