11 Reasons Why You’re Great!

mamajee's birthday 2017.jpg

Dear Mamajee,

Now here’s some reasons why you’re the best uncle,

There’s quite a lot, 11, to be exact!

Now, for a start, you’re always caring,

Always loving to all of us!

Number two!

You bring happiness with you,

And three, you’re so talented in cooking,

Your food? It’s basically heaven in a spoonful!

Next up’s the way you’re always by our side,

You’re also smiling, cheering us up!

You brightened up every dark corner,

Your laugh is just the thing to make us grin!

Whenever I think of stars, I remember your eyes,

Your hugs are warm,

Your jokes are so funny!

And to end it all here, you’re so loving!

You’re almost like our father!

And yes, I could go on and on!

Like the fact that you’ll never say no,

Or how you’ll fly across the world just for us!

But I just want to say,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

And thanks for everything you’ve done for us and more!

From your nephew,

The Pawsome Lion,

On behalf of Fatimah and Ali

p/s: Dear Mamajee, remember where we took this picture? My birthday gift to you is some very good news…

Surprise…We’re on UK TV!

The wait is finally over! The Family’s very own TV show is going to be aired on British Muslim UK TV. Believe it or not, it’s not just 1 episode, but 12! It is like having our very own reality show, but with added fun family activities! It’s also educational, packed with quizzes and trivia. It’s kinda like Fear Factor, fuelled with plenty of gruesome foods and smells! When Mr Dad broke the news to me, I was overjoyed to hear that they were inviting me to host our own family TV show! I was extremely honoured, but of course, none of this would have been possible without the help of everyone who put in every effort to make this happen!

First of all, I would like to thank Mr Dad! Normally, he doesn’t like to be in the limelight, but this time, he insisted on doing it to support me. I see him as a wonderful dad who won’t put his preferences before helping his son! He is a yes man, and can do anything for his children! He doesn’t mind to get his hands dirty, he just does it to support us! How much more caring can a father get? I hope he will be an inspiration to other dads out there!

I would also like to give thanks to Mamajee @adamdidam for his huge help too! When BMTV invited him to be part of the show, despite his busy schedule, he flew all the way to the UK from Malaysia and gave his full support! Mamajee has taught me a lot about the experience of being in front of a camera, and it has benefited me by having him in the show!

Of course, we can’t forget Fatimah! She has been exceptionally brilliant during the shooting and was very brave to talk in front of loads of cameras and people! Those of you who follow our Instagram will know that Fatimah was born to talk! However, shooting for TV is a whole new thing for a three-year-old like her! On some days, she was having a bad skin day due to the fact that she is lactose intolerant and is allergic to dairy products, but she was still able to continue shooting! I am very proud of her and how she has managed to be a featuring star in the show!

Another person who is prominent in the process of creating the show is Dr Auntie! She has been a massive help and sacrificed her time by coming all the way from Manchester to aid us! I don’t know what we would have done without her! She’s been great support to all of us!

Ali also deserves some thanks! He was extremely well-behaved whilst we were away shooting. He was not crying at all, even though him and Fatimah cannot be separated!

I would also like to express my gratitude to Mrs Mom! All throughout the making of the show, she has constantly supported us, telling us her thoughts about it and being really encouraging for us, even though she wasn’t feeling well at the time! She’s like a wonder woman!

And lastly, I would like to say a humungous thank you to Zainab, Yousra and the whole British Muslim TV team! They have taken us as their guests and have done millions of things for us! They are a great team to work with, being professional yet friendly! It’s like working with one big family! They accommodated us with all our needs right from the beginning! The original shooting location was meant to be in Manchester, but they brought the whole team to Birmingham just to make it more convenient for us! During the shooting, they looked after us, giving us appropriate breaks, providing us with food and cheering us on! They have also pampered Fatimah, making sure she has enough rest, making her food and even feeding her! Their love for us really shines through! It was such an amazing experience!

I have had so much fun making this show! The experience has helped me a lot in terms of developing my confidence and polishing my communication skills! And of course, be sure to tune in to British Muslim TV today from 4pm UK time (12am Malaysia time) on Sky 845 to watch the show! For those outside the UK, don’t worry! You can still watch us live from anywhere in the world through their website: http://www.britishmuslim.tv

p/s: Thank you once again BMTV! Can’t wait for our next project together!

Come Rain or Shine…

come rain or shine

Come Rain or Shine…

(A poem written by The Pawsome Lion)

~ Dedicated to Mr OCD Uncle, Dadajee & Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom ~

Our laughter used to fill every room,

They’re now the carriers of our sweet memories

Our love was strong, so tightly knit,

It seemed impossible to get in the way

Our smiles were sunshine,

Our eyes were stars,

We brightened up every dark corner

But then one day, you went away

It broke my heart to say goodbye

And as you left me all alone,

I shared my sorrow with the sky

Its cold tears washed my face

And thunder rolled as my own dripped

It knew how I was feeling

But I know that you’ll come back

To make more memories,

To laugh even more

And I also know that come rain or shine,

I’ll still love you and you’ll still love me

Sunday with Adam – The Brains Behind the Burger!🍔

Howdy y’all! It’s The Pawsome Lion! Did you enjoy last week’s video? Have any of you given it a try? If you haven’t, then you should! Now Episode 3 of the kids’ series is out! For this video, it’s…Lamb Burgers! This is a lovely delicacy that we all enjoy. But, what about the history of this dish?

handmade-burger

The Origin of Burgers

Long long ago, burgers weren’t the type of burgers that we all know today. They were something slightly different. The first burgers came around in the Middle Ages. Travelling merchants from Hamburg learnt how to make patties from The Tartars of the Baltic Lands. They used raw meat for the patties and seasoned them with salt, pepper and onion juice. Pretty basic, right?

Then another cook (nobody knows his name) improvised on the patties. He got pieces of beef, shaped them into round patties and broiled them. When these burgers arrived in the U.S, they were eaten quite raw, like the French still prefer their meat.

Dr. James H. Salisbury

The English and Irish were the first ones to cook their beef patties well done throughout. People in England named the burger ‘Salisbury Steak’, after Dr. James H. Salisbury, who advised his patients to eat a well done beef patty three times a day, followed by a cup of hot water to cure colitis, anemia and other illnesses.

The First ‘Burger Sandwich’

burger

The first burgers weren’t actually eaten between two sliced buns though. It was only until the early 1900s (when burgers were popularised in America) that this eating fashion began. Apparently, the idea was invented by a gambler called John Montagu, the fourth earl of Sandwich. He stuffed his patties between slices of bread so it was more convenient for him. This way, he could eat right at the gambling table! The official appearance of the first ‘hamburger’ sandwich took place at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri (this is also the birthplace of the much loved ice cream cone).

Burger Evolution!

veggie-burger

The Delicious Veggie Burger!

In where we are today, the burger has many different varieties. For example, vegetarians can enjoy burgers in the form of ‘veggie burgers’! The patties in these burgers are made from soy protein and vegetables. A lot of people are also creating new types of burgers. A Welsh zoologist is working on a high-protein burger patty made from rat meat!🐭 A group of scientists with tainted tastebuds are also trying to make a new burger. They’re going to use cotton for the patty! I wonder how they will taste like?

ramen burger.jpg

Another type of burger is the renowned Ramen Burger! The creator of this burger is a Japanese man called Keizo Shimamoto. He grew up in California and loved both parts of his culture: L.A (burgers) and Tokyo (ramen). He decided to merge both of these dishes together and create a whole new unique dish – The Ramen Burger, a twist on two dishes! In this dish, the normal burger bun is replaced with two circles of delicious, well-seasoned ramen! The Ramen Burger has spread worldwide and everybody loves it! Sounds PAWSOME!

MOS_rice_burger_(cropped).jpg

A burger that is similar to the Ramen Burger is the Rice Burger created by MOS Burger in Japan. MOS Burger is a fast-food restaurant chain known in various parts of the world. In this burger, two compressed rice cakes are used as an alternative for normal burger buns. The Rice Burger has become popularised in many parts of East Asia and other places like Australia and Indonesia. I really want to taste on of those! 😁

salmon-burger-2

Burgers with fish patties are also very popular. Take the Salmon Burger for example, the patty in this burger is substituted with a chunk o’ salmon! The majority of people like this burger because it’s meaty and full of flavour. I bet it’s delicious! YUM!!! 😛

100 Billion Burgers!!! 😵

McDonald’s is one of the best selling fast-food restaurants that sells burgers. Till date, they have sold over 100 billion burgers!!! Stack all of them up and you’d get the height of 100 of the world’s tallest buildings!😱 McDonald’s also owns a place known as ‘Hamburger University’, where people are taught the basics of hamburgerology. It is located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

So now you know a bit more about one of the dishes you love. It’s pretty amazing, huh? There’s been a lot of change over time! Don’t forget to watch the latest episode of the Sunday with Adam kids series! And in case you were wondering, hamburgers aren’t made of ham (they’re from Hamburg! 😛 ).

Sunday with Adam- Life Behind the Scenes! 🎬

Hey guys! I hope everything’s swell. Are you enjoying the brand new series of Sunday with Adam? Have you guys tried the recipe for Chips to the Next Level yet? If not, then you should try it now! Finally, Episode 2 of the kids series has been released! This time, it’s… Icy Bites! This delicious dish has got cookies 🍪, which pack a CRUNCH, and ice cream🍦, which is divine and delicious! You definitely can’t resist this perfect treat! So, you’ve seen it all on screen, but you can’t imagine what life is like behind the scenes of Sunday with Adam…

image1

At first, I was thinking that everything would be easy-peasy, as it seems in the video. It was only until we started shooting that I came face to face with the challenges! It was going to be a bit more harder than I thought!😵

Before we started to shoot the videos, Mr OCD Uncle had to plan everything from scratch. First, he had to think of the dishes that he was going to cook. Next, he had to decide which order he would cook them in. After that, he had to list down all the ingredients he needed. Then, he had to go grocery shopping for all the ingredients. Once that was done, he had to draw a design for the plating. Finally, he had to think of catchy names that would make the dishes even more attractive. BTW, Mr OCD Uncle managed to do all of this as a ONE MAN SHOW! I would say that he is equivalent to a superhero!!😤 One second he’s cooking at the worktop and the other he’s climbing up the ladder to check on the camera!💥

When the prep was done, we moved on to the shooting. The first stage was setting the scene! Now this was a very crucial but time-consuming part of the shooting. It took almost 2 hours to set everything up before each shooting day! We had to make sure that the spotlights were in the correct position so there was no shadow. The cameras also had to be in the right place so everything could be seen. Alongside that, we needed a nice background so we had to make sure the surface that we were working on was SPOTLESS ✨! The ingredients also had to be at a high standard. That’s why, early in the morning, Mr OCD Uncle goes grocery shopping to make sure we have high quality ingredients! For example, apples had to be a strong tone of red and shiny, lemons and limes had to be the perfect shape and mint had to be fresh and crisp. Everything had to be to a T! Whew, was that hard!

As soon as everything was set up, it was time to shoot the video! This was also a long process, it took half a day to do it! We didn’t start cooking straight away though. Before we did anything else, we needed to take a video of the spread of ingredients that we were going to use in our dish. Only then we could start cooking. Plating was also a very important issue. It was critical to make sure that the food looked stunning!😱 Because it was a cookery video, everything had to look irresistibly delicious! :p We also had to have perfect timing! For example, in Chips to the Next Level, we had to get the dish to the table quickly otherwise when we sliced it, we wouldn’t get that oozy, cheesy effect. And then we faced a bigger challenge with this episode. Since we were using ice cream in Icy Bites, the heat from the spotlight could have melted it so we had to get it onto the plate fast enough. It was a race against time! You should’ve seen me running around behind the scenes like a headless chicken! 😀

Did you notice that Mr OCD Uncle has also come up with something very smart in this brand new series of Sunday with Adam? He has invented ‘While Waiting…’! It is his own trademark and nobody else has ever done it before! This is the part I find fun as much as cooking. Whilst we are waiting for our food to cook, we do an activity together. For example, in Chips to the Next Level, we played Noughts & Crosses together. Then in Icy Bites, we played Monopoly, the board game. Clever, right?😁

Then along comes the final step, editing! And boy, did that take a long time! Because of the time limit on Instagram, all videos have to be no longer than 1 minute. Can you imagine how hard it was to shorten a video with a total length of a few hours into 1 minute? And that’s not all! We had to make sure it had a flow. It also had to have connectivity. Last but not least, we had to find a song! And it couldn’t be just any old song, it had to be a song that matched the video, it had to be a song that suited it. The song had to be something that was catchy, something that would stick in peoples minds. Finally, we had pieced all the jigsaws together so our masterpiece was complete!

So you see, a short but beautiful video has taken a lot of hard work behind the scenes. And it’s not just Sunday with Adam who works hard; the people who made the movies you love and the cartoons you watch have all strived and put their heart into their creation so they could make their own masterpiece. Now you know that some of the things you love have taken a lot of labour! Always appreciate other people’s hard work!

“The greatest achievements in life are only gained by hard work and toil.”

Sunday with Adam – Friendly Food, Woeful Waste!♻️

🎶When marimba rhythms start to play  🎶 Dance with me, make me sway 🎶 Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore 🎶 Hold me close, sway me more 🎶

Ooppss…sorry! I just can’t stop singing that song!! Well, welcome back pawsome peeps. Hope all is well. FYI, Mr OCD Uncle started his own series of musical cookery videos in January 2016. The things that he has done from then on are AMAZING! By the end of his first series, he had made 42 videos! Because of the huge success, Malaysia’s Most Famous Celebrity of 2016, Neelofa, proposed to Mr OCD Uncle to make another series of cookery videos! After that, Mr OCD Uncle continued to make brilliant videos and till date, he has produced 71 musical cookery videos! Now, he’s going to be releasing a new series, using mostly Waitrose products. And, guess what? I’m gonna be featured in his show!!! YAY!!! I am so delighted to be featured in this new series! 😃

The very first episode of the brand new series is called the mouth-watering Chips to the Next Level! 🍟 😛 In this video, we want to promote ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’. This dish uses two leftover foods- chips and chicken. Ever had a time when you invited your friends over for a meal and at the end, there were some leftovers? If you threw them away, you should know that you could use those leftovers and turn them into another dish!

fullsizerender

It has always been our family tradition not to waste food. Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom practised it in her early days and it was passed down from her to all her children. Now everybody in the family practises it, even me! She is totally against wasting food. I can guarantee that in our household, we are not allowed to waste any food. Instead, we were taught to use them to create a new stunning dish. If not, we always distributed our leftover food to the needy. I can still remember one time when Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom used leftover chips and transformed them into yummylicious Vegetables Fritters. My grandma is a great inspiration! 😀

Me and Mr OCD Uncle use leftovers in our dishes because we hate wasting food too!!! We like to innovate dishes so we can make the world a better place-and we can have tasty food! Some of the reasons we hate food waste is because:

  1. It’s a waste of money! 💰
  2. It’s bad for the environment! 🌱
  3. (As far as I know) It’s against all religions! 🙏

This is why we shouldn’t waste food! Bear in mind that food isn’t just food, it’s treasure!

To wrap it all up, what me and Mr OCD Uncle are trying to say is that if you’ve got some leftovers, don’t waste it! Remember that it can be turned into something PAWSOME!!! Let’s all say NO to Food Waste!

A Sad Adios…😭

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye…

As most of you know, the school year is coming to end and the summer holidays are slowly approaching. Everyone’s waving goodbye to their teachers and classes and are anxiously waiting to meet their new class teachers when the three weeks of ‘transition’ come. Transition is a period of time when children can get to know their new teachers and classes.

It’s time to bid farewell to Hazel and greet my new Year 5 class which is Oak! My new teacher will be Miss Parker and the LSP (teaching assistant) is Mr Johnson. Miss Parker will be our teacher for the three weeks of transition only as a new teacher will be appointed in September. I can’t wait to meet her/him! Hopefully they’re just like Miss Javed!

Wednesday was Parent’s Day at SHP, the day everyone received their yearly reports. As usual, everyone was nervous about the grades that they would get-especially me! There was a tense atmosphere when my family and I entered the classroom. We were all waiting for the moment when Miss Javed handed over my report for the year…

Then, the results were revealed! My report was…OUTSTANDING!!!! WAHEY!! My grades in Literacy, Maths, Science, R.E (Religious Education), Learning Together and P.E were superlative! I really need to thank God that everything in my report was great! This achievement is not mine to claim! It belongs to everyone, my family, friends, teachers and all you PAWSOME peeps because everyone has been supporting me all along and helped me to gain this achievement!

IMG_1688.JPG

Of course, my report wouldn’t have been outstanding without the hard work of all the PAWSOME people in my life! I would like to thank each and every one of them!

  1. Thank you God for making this possible!
  2. Thank you Mrs Mom and Mr Dad for supporting me throughout my journey from Moseley (old school) to SHP!
  3. Thank you Little Miss Diva and Baby A for being the cutest brother and sister in the whole wide world!
  4. Thank you Dr Auntie for motivating me to do my best!
  5. Thank you Mr OCD Uncle for being such an inspirational uncle to me!
  6. Thank you Dadajee and Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom for always building up my ideas!
  7. Thank you Miss Javed and Miss Hussain for being the greatest teachers I have ever met!
  8. Thank you Hazel class for always standing by my side!
  9. Thank you SHP for building me up from who I was in Moseley to who I am today!
  10. Last but not least, I would like to thank all of my family and friends, my blog readers, all of my supporters on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for always supporting and encouraging me!

I am not sharing my results so I can brag about it or anything like that, I am sharing them because I am hoping that I can inspire more people and show them that hard work really does pay off and if we work as one, TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD! And don’t just do it for yourself:

  • Do it for God, who gave you a life, because He wants you to make a good use out of this precious dowry.
  • Do it for your mother, who carried you in her womb for nine months and brought you into this world, so you can make her proud.
  • Do it for your father, who works hard every day to ensure that you live a good life, so you can return the favour.
  • Do it for your teachers, who get through the headaches to make sure you have a high-level education, so you can thank them sincerely.
  • Do it for your brothers and sisters, who look up to you all the time, so you can become a perfect role model.
  • Do it for your friends, who stick with you in times of sorrow, so you can all succeed together.
  • Do it for the unfortunate people in this world, who manage to live in hunger and pain, so they can have a brighter future.
  • Do it for everyone, so TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!

To end this emotional (😪) post, I would like to write a goodbye poem dedicated to Miss Javed and Miss Hussain!

A Sad Adios…

By The Pawsome Lion

You guided us through right from the start,

You loved us all with all your heart

You told us not to work for naught,

You taught us things that meant a lot

You never left us all alone

You made sure we didn’t break our bones

And though we’ve had our smiles and frowns,

We’ve turned the frowns upside down

That’s why I’m saying a sad adios

To two of my favourite amigos!

p/s: Adios Miss Javed and Miss Hussain! I wish you all the best for next year!

Happy 1 Month-aversary!

monthly-milestone-signs-pink_1month-201x300

Hey pawsome peeps! I know that I said that I won’t be posting anything for a few days but I just realised that it’s already been a month since I have started blogging (Whew, time goes so fast, doesn’t it?).

75496_380405402067036_1907930380_n.jpg

I can still remember sitting down with Mrs Mom brainstorming the identity for my new project as if it was only yesterday! After that, we both went through the registration for my own email account, this blog, my own Facebook page, Twitter and also Instagram. I know it’s only been a month but my schedule has changed a lot since I started blogging. To be fair, not only mine, but also Mrs Mom’s, Little Miss Diva’s and Baby A’s too! The level of commitment was so high but I didn’t mind it at all because I’ve witnessed how much time Mrs Mom had sacrificed for me. Mr Dad has also contributed a lot to help make this happen! Thinking of all those sacrifices that were made, I promise myself that I will work harder to drive my blog along the road to success!

So far, I’ve written 26 posts since 2nd November. Wow!!! That’s a lot for 29 days. I should give myself a pat on my back. 🙂 I hope that I can always maintain this level of commitment. Up until now, there were 788 visitors and 2,700 views on my blog. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I checked the statistics on my blog last night! I found out that there are visitors from 15 different countries which have visited my blog till date. They are from:

  1. United Kingdom
  2. Malaysia
  3. Poland
  4. Singapore
  5. United States
  6. Qatar
  7. Bulgaria
  8. Hong Kong SAR China
  9. Indonesia
  10. Australia
  11. Netherlands
  12. Japan
  13. Thailand
  14. Italy
  15. Germany

Now, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have visited my blog and read my pieces of work. I might not know all of you but I can assure you that I am so grateful and honoured to know that people from different parts of the world have spared their precious time to read my humble blog. It’s the greatest feeling that anyone can have!

I would especially like to thank Mr Dad for always believing in me and also to Mrs Mom for all her continuous support and hard work juggling around the house to help make my dreams come true! And how could I ever forget my biggest fans, Little Miss Diva and Baby A! They have been loyal readers of my blog. Every morning, Mrs Mom has to read out my blog to both of them while they sit quietly listening to the posts until she finishes. Little Miss Diva also enjoys looking at all those pictures. It was definitely worth every single bit of effort that I’ve made.

Lots of thank you’s also go to my mentor, Dr. Auntie, who has given me lots of feedback on my writing. Another thank you to Mr OCD Uncle who has always motivated me to do more in life! And of course my next thank you goes to my best buddy, Dadajee (my grandpa)! No one could have supported me the way you did, Dada!! The next people in the line would be Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom (my beloved grandma), my Auntie Kawaii and family, plus my Uncle Pawsome and family for the greatest support ever!!!

Not to forget all the support from Mr Dad’s side of the family too! Thank you Atuk (my paternal grandpa), Anek (my paternal grandma), my uncles, aunties and cousins for your kind support. I really appreciate it!

This next special thank you is dedicated to someone close to my heart, Unclejee. Thank you for all those time you spared to read my writing. Thank you for all those comments you’ve made.Thank you for all the encouragement, positive feedback, text messages and a gazillion other things. Words can’t express how much I appreciate it. Even though we’ve never met, it seems like we’ve got a very strong connection with each other.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my siblings in Hazel. You have been so supportive and also loyal readers of my blog. I could never have done it without all your support. Special thanks to Miss Javed and Miss Hussain. You are both AMAZING!!! 😀

And of course my next thank you would be to all my pawsome teachers and friends in Shireland who have been supporting me as I go along the path to success. Thank you Mr Shephard for all the recognition. I really appreciate it! Thank you Miss Prince for all the appreciation. Thank you Mrs Hussain for being a fan of my story. Thank you my best friend Nimah for being my loyal reader.

This last thank you is for someone very important. I put her last not because she’s least special but because she’s the reason why I am who I am today. Thank you Mrs Lawrence for all your guidance and appreciation. You have spotted my talent from the very beginning and has always believe that I could do more and more. I may have been 5 years old at that time. But, Mrs Mom would never let me forget all the hard work you’ve put into me. If you are reading this, please know that I will never forget you, ever!!!

Now, hold your horses coz all of you PAWSOME peeps have been so AWESOME and have been leaving MORESOME comments. That makes all of you ROARSOME!!!!! So again, a big fat THANK YOU to everyone for supporting me. Happy 1 Month-aversary!

“We must always appreciate all the support that people have given us at any time. It is just like respect!”

Hello World!

Hey pawsome peeps! I’m a groovy little man that is based in Birmingham, UK. You can call me “The Pawsome Lion”. I absolutely adore writing. It has been my thing since I was little. Everyone in my family has supported me and encouraged me to write, especially my dearest Dr. Auntie and my OCD Uncle! Because of my passion for writing, I have decided to start a blog. Since I am only 9 years old, me and my partner, Mrs. Mom, will be working together to make this blog a success! However, all the ideas and writing are a 100% completely my copyright. I hope you enjoy reading my blog.
