When Blessings Knock on Your Door…

Hello pawsome peeps! I hope you’re all as fit as a fiddle! Today’s post is going to be short but I have some PAWSOME news! Wanna find out? Then look below ⤵️

houses of parliament.jpg

Remember last year when I said that I was selected as a school ambassador to go to Parliament? Well, it didn’t happen (yet) because of the Brexit protests. So, the trip was cancelled due to safety precautions. Hearing this, I was heartbroken. 💔 I kept waiting and waiting and waiting even more, and after waiting for almost a year, I thought that it would never happen – until today. I received some RIDICULOUSLY EXCITING news! It turns out that…ME AND NIMAT WILL BE GOING TO PARLIAMENT THIS JUNE!!! XD I couldn’t believe it! It was like a dream come true. I am so pumped up and I just can’t wait to go! Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep tonight; I’m still buzzing with excitement!

I’ll have to end the post here, guys! I know that it wasn’t that long but don’t worry, the next post is coming soon. Ciao!

p/s: Thank you God for your endless blessings! 🙏

My Pobble Day! #throwback 13th October 2016

FYI, this post is a THROWBACK post! I have lots more pieces of written work that are also waiting to be published! 😛

Hello pawsome peeps! How are you? I hope you’re settling into the new school year OK. A lot of things have been happening since school has started. I am now a Digital Leader, I have gotten into Choir, the new members of JLT have been selected and a lot more! But, there was one particularly exciting event that took place yesterday. Read the following to find out…

It was…a Pobble Workshop!!! I had been waiting for this for ages! Finally, the day had come! Just to let you know, Pobble is a website where teachers and parents are able to post a picture of their children’s writing for the world to read! It is used by 10,000 teachers in over 100 countries and has 30,000+ pieces of work posted on it!

There were only four people out of the whole school that attended the workshop: me, Nimat, Leah and Shoaib. 7 other schools had also come to our school to attend the workshop. They were all Year 6, we were the only people from Year 5!

Of course, there was no better person to host it than the man himself, founder of Pobble, Simon Blower a.k.a. Mr Pobble! I found him very kind and welcoming; we all enjoyed working with him.

To start off, we were shown a picture of an old, scruffy-looking man walking along a road that was shrouded in a thick mist. The only other things that were there to accompany him were several clocks showing different times (mysterious! 😯) and an upside-down lamppost! Using this picture, we had to write three sentences about it: ‘I see…’, ‘I think…’ and ‘I wonder if…’. My sentences were:

  1. I see an old man walking down a foggy road.
  2. I think he may be near water.
  3. I wonder if he can control time?

Most of us wrote the same thing for the third sentence due to the fact that all the clocks in the picture were showing different times. This was related to the theme of our writing, which was…time travelling! We had to write a story in which we travelled through time to a different era. Now, this wasn’t like another old English lesson where we are set off to work after briefly talking about it as a class. In the workshop, we went through each stage of the story-one at a time-whilst we were writing to make sure that it was perfect!

Before we started on our stories, we had to choose an object that would send us on our time travelling adventures! My object was a golden pocket watch with azure hands. Other people chose things like keys, flowers, pendants and even cupboards! Interesting! 😀

After that, we moved on to the first stage of our story, which was called the hook. This was the opening paragraph, which had to grab the reader’s attention and convince them to read on. To cut it short, we had to basically ‘hook’ the reader onto our story.

The second stage of our story was to introduce the magical object that makes us travel through time. In this stage, we had to think of how the object came into our lives. Some people said that their parents owned it and passed it down to them whereas others said that they found it lying on the floor in the street.

The next stage that we had to do was write about our journey through time. The main things that we had to think about were what you could see whilst travelling through time and what it felt like when you time travelled. What colours could you see? Were you flying? Were you spinning? People came up with all sorts of crazy ideas such as ‘being thrown into a tunnel of colour’ and ‘shaking around like a rag doll’. One of my favourites was ‘energy surged through my body like a tidal wave’! 👍

Finally, we had to write up our dilemma! In this stage, we had to reveal the era that we had ended up in and create a problem that we had to face e.g. being captured or not being able to go back home. Then we had to finish off with something called a ‘cliffhanger ending’, which is when the dilemma of a story comes at the end. I pretended that I had travelled to the time period when Queen Victoria ruled and two guards were trying to catch me. Other children chose Ancient Egypt and the Roman time period. One person even decided to travel to the future when robots ruled Earth! Sounds fascinating!

pobble october 2016

When we finished all that, our story was complete and ready for posting! We gave our sheets to Mr. Pobble and waved him goodbye. Writing with the founder of Pobble was such a great experience. I didn’t want it to end! Hopefully I will have the chance to have another Pobble day another time! 🙂

Oh well, that’s all for this post. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading it! Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the next post. Goodbye!!!

School’s Here!!!

school.jpg

Wagwan pawsome peeps! Hope you’re doing well! As you all know, the Easter holidays have come to an end and it’s the start of a new school term. Since I haven’t written about school for quite a while now, I have decided to write a quick update about what’s going on at school.

As usual, I couldn’t wait to meet my PAWSOME Hazel class again on the first day back. Everyone was in a cheerful mood, especially the ROARSOME duo, Miss Javed and Miss Hussain!

natural-disasters

Since it was the start of a new term, we would be starting a new topic. Our topic for this term is all about Natural Disasters. This topic is jam-packed with lots of fun things to learn such as why earthquakes happen, what makes volcanos erupt, how tsunamis form and much more. And, we made great, enormous volcanos out of ordinary plastic bottles that were put on display. Some children also drew life-like pictures of natural disasters. From what I have seen, I guarantee that everyone will enjoy learning about this topic!

paint-splatter-wallpaper-8

Then, on Thursday, something special happened at school. It was…Arts Day! Arts Day is a day that is dedicated to art and design. Each Arts Day has a different theme each year. The theme for this Arts Day was portraits! As usual, there was task for us to complete. We had to create a portrait, collage or sculpture of someone who inspires us the most. Being the typical me, I’m always ready to take on the challenge! So, I made piece of artwork with both me and Mr Dad in it. As part of the artwork, I also created a quote related to father and son. It was:

“My father is the greatest father anyone could have. He gives me love, guidance and he always believes in me.

But the best gift he gave me was teaching me how to spread my wings and fly!”

I presented my artwork in a HUGE frame that looked like a film strip. And like I always say, even if I don’t win, I still tried my best! As a treat, a graffiti artist came visited us and explained to us what graffiti is! He also wrote the school’s initials in graffiti style writing and showed us some of the techniques that are used in graffiti art. The finishing product looked AA-mazing!  The graffiti art was going to be in the middle of our arts display once the portraits that we made at school were finished.

rainbow

Each year group was also asked to wear a certain colour on that day. This was all part of a school arts piece that we made. Year 4 was asked to wear a blue shirt or dress. Miss Javed and Miss Hussain were both wearing blue tops, blue trousers and even blue hair extensions! For once, they actually looked like twins! When all of the year groups were sitting together, the colours of our clothes made a magnificent rainbow if it was seen from above. Some of the teachers took photos of us and we all can’t wait to see them!

handwriting

Me and Nimat have also started our very own Handwriting Club! Our aim is to help children develop their handwriting so they have a better chance of earning a pen licence in the future. There are currently 5 children attending the club. From time to time, we also ask some other children to help us run the Handwriting Club because these children can be a handful (if you know what I mean)! At the moment, the club is for Year 2 children and is held three times a week. The club has been going on for more than two months now. We are also hoping to open up to other year groups over time.

drama

There is also some other news that I would like to share with you guys. I have finally got a place in Drama Club! As the name states, this is a club where we act out plays and movies. It is run by Mr Ball, a class teacher in Year 5. The play that we are currently practising is called A Midsummer Night’s Dream written by the well-known William Shakespeare. Surprisingly, I got the lead male role called Lysander! As a coincidence, Nimat is also in Drama Club! She plays the role of the Fairy. Rehearsals are held every Monday after school and Thursday at lunchtime. The actual play will be held in June and we are all very excited about it.

welcome

Last but not least, I would like to welcome a new student that has recently joined us. His name is Furqan! It has been around two weeks since he started at our school and has settled in really well. Welcome to Shireland Hall Primary Academy, Furqan! I hope you enjoy your time with us!

I’m afraid that I’ll have to end the post here, guys. But, keep your eyes peeled for the next update about another special day that I’ll be writing shortly! Till we meet again, ciao everybody!

ciao new

P/S: I’m feeling a bit under the weather so it looks like no school for The Pawsome Lion tomorrow, which is like the end of the world for me!

Since the start of 2016, Mr Dad has been busy doing a ton of work. Mrs Mom hasn’t been feeling well lately and I myself has been busy with Keyboard Club, the new Handwriting Club that I teach with Nimah and with the new Drama Club that I recently joined! Because Mr Dad has a tight schedule and Mrs Mom hasn’t been feeling well, I have been helping them around the house and to babysit Little Miss Diva and Baby A. But, I have finally found some spare time to write a quick update on my blog to tell you guys how I’m getting on! Mrs Mom and I have also been working on a time schedule so I have enough time to post something on my blog. Also, today is the first day of Spring! Yay!!! 😀 It’s all sunny days and happiness, until Winter comes again!

Oh well, that’s all for today’s post! I hope you all have a superb week! Till we meet again, adios amigos!

Happy 1 Month-aversary!

monthly-milestone-signs-pink_1month-201x300

Hey pawsome peeps! I know that I said that I won’t be posting anything for a few days but I just realised that it’s already been a month since I have started blogging (Whew, time goes so fast, doesn’t it?).

75496_380405402067036_1907930380_n.jpg

I can still remember sitting down with Mrs Mom brainstorming the identity for my new project as if it was only yesterday! After that, we both went through the registration for my own email account, this blog, my own Facebook page, Twitter and also Instagram. I know it’s only been a month but my schedule has changed a lot since I started blogging. To be fair, not only mine, but also Mrs Mom’s, Little Miss Diva’s and Baby A’s too! The level of commitment was so high but I didn’t mind it at all because I’ve witnessed how much time Mrs Mom had sacrificed for me. Mr Dad has also contributed a lot to help make this happen! Thinking of all those sacrifices that were made, I promise myself that I will work harder to drive my blog along the road to success!

So far, I’ve written 26 posts since 2nd November. Wow!!! That’s a lot for 29 days. I should give myself a pat on my back. 🙂 I hope that I can always maintain this level of commitment. Up until now, there were 788 visitors and 2,700 views on my blog. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I checked the statistics on my blog last night! I found out that there are visitors from 15 different countries which have visited my blog till date. They are from:

  1. United Kingdom
  2. Malaysia
  3. Poland
  4. Singapore
  5. United States
  6. Qatar
  7. Bulgaria
  8. Hong Kong SAR China
  9. Indonesia
  10. Australia
  11. Netherlands
  12. Japan
  13. Thailand
  14. Italy
  15. Germany

Now, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have visited my blog and read my pieces of work. I might not know all of you but I can assure you that I am so grateful and honoured to know that people from different parts of the world have spared their precious time to read my humble blog. It’s the greatest feeling that anyone can have!

I would especially like to thank Mr Dad for always believing in me and also to Mrs Mom for all her continuous support and hard work juggling around the house to help make my dreams come true! And how could I ever forget my biggest fans, Little Miss Diva and Baby A! They have been loyal readers of my blog. Every morning, Mrs Mom has to read out my blog to both of them while they sit quietly listening to the posts until she finishes. Little Miss Diva also enjoys looking at all those pictures. It was definitely worth every single bit of effort that I’ve made.

Lots of thank you’s also go to my mentor, Dr. Auntie, who has given me lots of feedback on my writing. Another thank you to Mr OCD Uncle who has always motivated me to do more in life! And of course my next thank you goes to my best buddy, Dadajee (my grandpa)! No one could have supported me the way you did, Dada!! The next people in the line would be Khun Yai Thi Rak Khong Phom (my beloved grandma), my Auntie Kawaii and family, plus my Uncle Pawsome and family for the greatest support ever!!!

Not to forget all the support from Mr Dad’s side of the family too! Thank you Atuk (my paternal grandpa), Anek (my paternal grandma), my uncles, aunties and cousins for your kind support. I really appreciate it!

This next special thank you is dedicated to someone close to my heart, Unclejee. Thank you for all those time you spared to read my writing. Thank you for all those comments you’ve made.Thank you for all the encouragement, positive feedback, text messages and a gazillion other things. Words can’t express how much I appreciate it. Even though we’ve never met, it seems like we’ve got a very strong connection with each other.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my siblings in Hazel. You have been so supportive and also loyal readers of my blog. I could never have done it without all your support. Special thanks to Miss Javed and Miss Hussain. You are both AMAZING!!! 😀

And of course my next thank you would be to all my pawsome teachers and friends in Shireland who have been supporting me as I go along the path to success. Thank you Mr Shephard for all the recognition. I really appreciate it! Thank you Miss Prince for all the appreciation. Thank you Mrs Hussain for being a fan of my story. Thank you my best friend Nimah for being my loyal reader.

This last thank you is for someone very important. I put her last not because she’s least special but because she’s the reason why I am who I am today. Thank you Mrs Lawrence for all your guidance and appreciation. You have spotted my talent from the very beginning and has always believe that I could do more and more. I may have been 5 years old at that time. But, Mrs Mom would never let me forget all the hard work you’ve put into me. If you are reading this, please know that I will never forget you, ever!!!

Now, hold your horses coz all of you PAWSOME peeps have been so AWESOME and have been leaving MORESOME comments. That makes all of you ROARSOME!!!!! So again, a big fat THANK YOU to everyone for supporting me. Happy 1 Month-aversary!

“We must always appreciate all the support that people have given us at any time. It is just like respect!”

My Pawsome Meeting: Part 3

3052433749_1_9_Bq1cI6L2

Bonjour mes amis! Comment allez-vous?

In this post, I am going all out and making a French themed post. Don’t worry, I’ll include a French dictionary at the bottom!

Today, I felt a bit better after my horrible cold. So, I went to school but I still had to stay inside when it was break time. The school day was the same as any other though. I didn’t cough, I didn’t sneeze and there was no problem at all. The lessons were a bit ennuyeuse. But, even though the day wasn’t passionnant, there was something in the afternoon that I couldn’t wait for. It was my next cluster council meeting! How frais is that?

images27

So, after all the school agitation, me and my colleague Nimah set off once again on the bumpy ride. There were about un, deux, trois, quatre…douze bumps throughout the ride. Oh well, as the old saying goes, no pain, no gain! Finally, when we arrived at the academy, we rapidement collected our stickers, went up the stairs and entered the meeting room. At this rate, we knew that there was no time to lanterner. So, we went straight to our groups and started from where we finished off last time. As you might have known, I was in the group that was designing the invitation.

vip-ticket-blog-500x312

Last time, we drafted the invitation on paper but this time, we did it on the l’ordinateur. The invitation had a noir background with or writing on it. There were also little pictures inserted here and there. I must say though, even though we couldn’t get everything we wanted on there, it still looked authentique and very VIP. After a while, it was time to go. Luckily, we managed to finish our invitation just in time.

When we reached our l’école, me and Nimah rushed back to our classrooms, in fear that we would be the last ones to get out. Fortunately, we made it just in time. Then, everyone went home happily, ready to enjoy the weekends…

Yeah-Weekend

My Pawsome Tuesday!

tuesday-037

Greetings, pawsome peeps! How’s it going? Hope that everything’s well.

over-the-moon

This morning, when I walked into the class, Miss Javed and my mates were discussing about the article that I wrote on leadership.Surprise, surprise! We read it through and talked about certain points in there. Then, Miss Javed printed it so we could put it up on our SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural development) wall. I felt so honoured to have my article displayed on the wall. It’s really worth all the hard work that I put into it. I felt thankful to Miss Javed for the opportunity and recognition that she has given me! I really appreciate it and will use this to drive myself towards my goal in life. I will not forget to take Hazel with me on my journey to reach the stars! What a great way to start my morning, huh? 😀

30b77b156922fbbf4aa3bba057e82c49

After all the morning hoo-ha, we moved on to Literacy. Literacy was really interesting. We got to use thesauri for the first time (well, at least it was most of the children’s first time)!  My group had to think of 7 simple adjectives and find better words for them in the thesaurus. I managed to think of 6 words and find 3 or 4 words for each of them.

young clever science student crossed arms with formula written blackboard

Then we had a break. When we came back in, it was time for Maths. We all went to our groups to start the lesson. In my group, we had to do equivalent fractions. Some of the children in ‘GO’ group groaned and said “Aww! 😦 “. But we had no choice and had to get on with it. As usual, we managed to answer all the questions.

Then it was lunch time. For my lunch, I had:

  1. A Southern fried veggie burger
  2. Sweetcorn
  3. Salad
  4. Apple pie
  5. Juice

1689531638_1364900850

By the time lunch had finished, everybody could not calm down. It’s hard to calm down when you’ve just had a break, especially when you’ve played an exciting game. At last, everyone managed to simmer down.  Then, Miss Javed proceeded with the register. After the register, Miss Javed said that we would be… MAKING COMPASSES!!! Everybody whooped “Yay!” and leaped up off their seats. Then the phone started to ring. Miss Hussain went to answer it. When she came back, she told me something. There was going to be an exciting event. It was… me and Nimah’s 2nd council meeting!

compass-south

Once again, we repeated the journey that we did before. We collected Nimah, picked up the other children from the other schools and arrived at Victoria Park Primary Academy. Then, we gathered our visitor stickers again and went through to the meeting room. We then said hello to the teacher that was hosting the meeting. After that, we said our names so the teacher could put our names on the register. The next thing that we had to do was to re-cap on what we did last week.

cancel-your-meeting

Firstly, we talked about what qualities a good leader has. We went round the table and shared our ideas. Then, we put forward some points about why we think that so and so is good or why so and so is bad.

Christmas-Disco1

Then, we started talking about the Christmas disco again. We talked about the letter for it and the invitation. We were then split into 2 groups. One group would be making the invitation and the other one would be writing the letter. I was in the group that was making the invitation. I really wanted to be in this group because I’m really good at designing things. We managed to get the whole invitation done just in time. On it we had a gold background, a title, a border, pictures and writing of course!

golden-ticket-large

At the end of the meeting, I gave out some of the name cards that Dr. Auntie made for me. Everyone liked them and said “Wow!”. Then, Nimah asked the teacher if we would be going to Parliament in London. The teacher replied “Yes. It has always been our tradition to go to Parliament every year.” Having heard this, the whole school council shouted “Whoo hoo!!”. Finally, it was time to go back to school sweet school.

houses-of-parliament-at-night

When I got back to my class, the science lesson was already finished. I had missed the experiment! But luckily, we got to take the kit that we needed to make the compass at home. I was so relieved when I heard this.

School-Selfie

At the end of the day, I went down to Keyboard Club. When we were practicing the song that we were learning, Lean on Me, everyone managed to play it once again! Around of applause for everyone in the club! Because we could play it from start to finish, we started to learn a new song called Stay with Me. Some of us managed to play the first line of the song just before home time.

60012666

Then, I went home with Mr. Dad and spent some time with Little Miss Diva and Baby ‘A’ coz they are both poorly. 😦 As you can see, my writing is getting even more boring by the second because I am half asleep. I think that I should stop here before I make everyone else fall asleep! Good night! Don’t let the bed bugs bite!! 😉

tired-cat.jpg

p/s: sorry that I couldn’t reply to your email, Nimah. I was doing my writing and it was getting very late. So, I had to get ready for bed. But, I look forward to see you tomorrow in pyjamas! 😀
