Fatimah’s 4th Birthday!

*Dedicated to my li’l’ PAWSOME sister, Fatimah*

Time seems to fly sometimes, without you even knowing it, and this was especially true with Fatimah! It seems like only yesterday when I was 7 and Fatimah was born into the family, bringing joy and laughter. I can clearly remember when she was small enough to fit into my hands and only just starting to crawl – but look where she is now! She’s walkin’, talkin’ and as much of a diva as you can be (a lovely diva, that is)! And today, she’s…

TURNING 4!!!!!!!!

Yep, you read it right! It’s the 3rd of January 2018, a.k.a Fatimah’s 4th birthday, one of the most special dates in our family!

Fatimah is one of the best people I know, and I’m so glad to have her as a sister! She’s very loving, and protective when it comes to her family! She’s really confident in speaking, like when she’s doing ‘The Fatimah Show’. Fatimah also loves cooking, and enjoys making cookery videos, just like Mamajee @adamdidam. She absolutely loves it when he comes to visit because they will be able to do it together! She also likes me to cook with her and I must admit, it’s quite an enjoyable experience! The first time I cooked with her, I was expecting her to ask for help, but in the end, she was the one helping me! I guess she’s mastered all the techniques because she always helps Mr Dad when he’s cooking!

Fatimah is also a playful and imaginative girl. She enjoys making stories with her toys, running a pretend restaurant with them as the customers and making sure her brother Ali has a part by putting him in the role of head chef, or going on a trek through the forest! Speaking of which, she’s VERY active! She always manages to get exercise, inside or outside, doing things like yoga and dancing, especially to Bollywood songs! But above all, she’s always well-behaved and highly mannered. Another favourite hobby of hers is arts and crafts. Cutting, sticking, painting, making collages, she loves it all! Not to forget, I’m glad that me and Fatimah share the same hobby, READING, as I have ORD (Obsessive Reading Disorder! 😉 ) She enjoys storytelling too!

These are only a few of the reasons I feel blessed to have Fatimah as a sister! I couldn’t have asked for more from God! On her 4th birthday, she’s already such a mature child! Fatimah, I wish you all the best for the future! May God shower you with His eternal blessings and keep you in His safeguarding! I wanted to give you a special birthday present for you this year, since you’re so grown up, and I decided that instead of a poem, I’d give you something special that you could keep with you, always. So here it is below – a special drawing of you, from a brother to a sister! I used lots and lots of colours to capture your loving, lively and playful personality, so it can remind you of your childhood, to tell you to always remain carefree, and of course, to let you remember that we will all be with you in your heart, and you’ll be in ours!

He Came Back To Cornwall

IMG_3773

He came back to Cornwall.

He came back from the war with a bloody arm, a bandaged leg and a few scars on his face. He came back from the war to find his dear family in their little village. He came back from the war, but he wasn’t expecting this.

The year was 1919. After spending a few more months in London, he finally decided to travel back to his hometown. He needed to feel warmth again, he needed to feel love and happiness, and his lovely little Cornwall was just the place for that.

Lugging his rucksack on his back, he walked into St Mawes, not knowing what to expect when he knocked on the door of his house. Maybe shouts of his name or crying or laughing and hugging. He walked through the streets filled with desolate but running shops, and many grey houses. They were tilted and uneven, like buildings from a fairy tale.

He walked further into the village, people eyeing him strangely as they passed him. Then he found it. Right in front of him was his childhood home, still standing as it had been 27 years ago.

Shuffling nervously up to the wooden door, he gave it a slow tap, creating a deep, hollow sound. There was a sudden scrambling inside, and then the lock clicked. The door creaked open, and the face of a middle-aged woman, wet with tears, met him. It was his mother, and as he looked over her shoulder, he spotted his father, sister and brother.

Hastily, his mother wiped her tears away. “Oh, hello,” she sniffled, “Um, who are you?”

He was puzzled. Why wouldn’t his own mother remember him? “It’s me, Mum. Your son!”

“Son?” she repeated, “My dear boy, you must be mistaken!”

“Who is it?” his father coughed.

“It’s a young man. He’s come back from the war. He says he’s our son!”

“Son? Poor thing, you can’t be! It’s all that war business getting to your head! Old Matthew, he…he, um, he died.”

Surely this was a dream, or some kind of practical joke! How would his own family forget him, and, what’s more, say that he was deceased? He simply couldn’t believe it.

“But…” he whispered, “But I’m Matthew!”

“Matthew was killed at the start of the war by a bomb in London.” his mother said firmly but not unkindly. “Do come in though, dear. You must be worn out!”

Silently, he stepped through the doorway, shutting the door behind him. “Thank you.” he murmured.

“This is Sarah and John.” his mother said, gesturing to his sullen-faced brother and sister. He did not respond.

Later on, they all sat down at the table in the kitchen, which was very familiar to Matthew. They had a dinner of corned beef and morsels of bread, and then they all retired to their bedrooms.

He had some trouble dozing off, and it seemed like a few seconds when he woke up again, realising that something was shaking his side. He widened his eyes and turned his head, only to find his ginger cat, Oliver. It was early dawn, and it would need feeding. He got up and walked into the kitchen, the floor making the occasional creak. Then he remembered. Oliver had died before the war.

He dropped the bowl he was holding onto the floor. It made a loud crash, sure to wake someone up. He turned around. The cat was not there. Frantically, he ran up the hallway to the other bedrooms, not finding anyone. He ran outside, meeting with cold, icy air biting into his cheeks. The village looked deserted. Then he saw something coming up the street. Oliver. He was dazed, confused, not understanding what was happening. He turned back to return to the house, only to be pushed to the floor by another man. It was his father, and he was armed with a gun.

“Heil Hitler.” he whispered. The family followed: “Heil Hitler!”

Then the father pulled the trigger, and then it was the end. If only he hadn’t felt the urge to come back home. If only he was ordered to stay in London. But he still arrived. He came back to Cornwall.

Hansel & Gretel – A Twisted Tale!

hanselgretel.jpg

You’ve probably heard of the tale of Hansel and Gretel. They sound like really nice people who help around and save people from witches – but they aren’t. They are actually horrid witch hunters practicing the Dark Arts.

My sister, Alexis, was a good witch who wanted to save people from the Dark witches and wizards. But then she died and I watched it all from a window. From then on, I hid in the forest and tried to find a way to get revenge on Hansel and Gretel. Of course, I knew that it was virtually impossible, but something deep inside me, something that raged fiercely like a fire, pushed me more and more.

It all started on a cool spring day. The sparrows were tweeting away happily in the havens of leaves above. Sunshine illuminated every part of the forest. Everything seemed perfect. Me and Alexis had finally finished building the candy house for children and adults who were lost in the woods. It had shiny windows made of sugar, scrumptious gingerbread walls and a door created with the finest chocolate in the world. A fence of candy canes and strawberry string acted as a border around the dwelling. There was a small space left for a gate built of marzipan. All of it was finished off with a shortbread door knocker and a single cookie stepping stone.

“The people will absolutely love this!” said Alexis excitedly, a huge smile on her face.

Later on in the day, I went to collect some food from the forest whilst Alexis stayed at the house. With me, I took my satchel and dark blue travelling cloak. I managed to gather enough mushrooms and wild berries for both of us. When I came back, I heard several voices inside, Alexis’, a man’s and woman’s. Suddenly, there was a loud smash. I looked through one of the windows and saw the owners of the other voices inside. The woman, who was dressed head to toe in dark-coloured clothes, was rushing to to get a broom and clean up a pile of shattered glass. Meanwhile, the man was apologising to Alexis for his sister’s ‘foolish actions’. He was clad in a checkered shirt, with colours of green and red blending together, and baggy, patched trousers. Then, I realised that a brown stick was sticking out of a pouch in each of their trousers. They had ancient runes and symbols carved on them. I couldn’t believe it! Could they be Hansel and Gretel? But if they were, why were they being so friendly?

gretel.jpg

Alexis went over to turn the oven on. As she twisted a knob, orangey-blue flames blazed behind the glass pane. She opened the oven door and walked over to a two-tiered cake sitting on the worktop. Just as she turned around, Hansel and Gretel immediately leapt to their feet, got their wands out and pointed them at Alexis, who suddenly started screaming. I wanted to go and help her, but my foot was being held captive by a gnarled vine snaking out of the ground. I pulled and tugged but it was no use. An impenetrable plant. Inside, the treacherous witch hunters waved their wands over to a spot in front of the open oven. Alexis was dragged to the same location.

“Ha! You thought you could hide from us? You were wrong!” yelled Gretel.

“W-W-What do y-you- want?” Alexis spluttered.

“You know what,” replied Hansel, evil drifting around in his voice. “We want to rid the world of all the good witches and wizards.”

Then, without warning, they stuck their wands out even further and shouted in unison, “TIMORIOS ET MORTEMIS!!!”

A strong wind blew through the house and splintered the window, making my cloak billow out behind me. I nearly fell back but managed to regain balance. Alexis jerked and choked. Then she staggered back and fell into the oven. Her screams were most unpleasant. It lasted for about half a minute and then there was only silence. The vine holding my foot released. Smash! A long object crashed through another of the sugar windows, shattering the peace that had once deluged the woods. I ran deep into the forest and went into hiding. One might say that I went crazy after spending such a long time in the woods, but they don’t know the truth. And as for Hansel and Gretel, well, I’ve heard they’re going to twist the tale again.

Who Else But Mum!?

Who Else But Mum!?

(A poem written by The Pawsome Lion)

~Dedicated to Mrs Mom

I still remember how you smiled at me,

And that twinkle in your eyes,

Our laughs when we had fun,

The tears of joy we shared

I still remember how you helped me up

When I fell to the floor,

Your hugs when I felt down,

Your praise when I had done well

I still remember after all these years

How kind you’ve been to me,

How great you’ve been to my brother,

How great you’ve been to my sister

And I still come to you for hugs,

For smiles, for advice, for a laugh,

Because I think,

Who else but mum,

To go to for joy!?

Who else but mum,

To go to for help!?

Who else? Who else? Who else but mum!?

And on this very special day,

I’d like to say…

Happy Birthday!

To the best mother in the world!

My Little Miss Diva!

Since 2014, the 3rd of January has been an important date for my family! This is because of the long awaited addition to my small family. Of course, it’s none other than my Little Miss Diva’s day of birth. Mrs Mom said, “She was a miracle!”

miracles.jpg

I was 7 years old when I found out that Mrs Mom was pregnant with Little Miss Diva. When I first heard the news, I was stupefied! I couldn’t believe it! The news had me jumping with excitement because I never had a brother or sister before.

MikeWazowski.png

There was a strong connection between me and Little Miss Diva right from the beginning. Whenever Mrs Mom wanted to sleep, I always had to sit beside her and keep her company. Sometimes, even when she was still in Mrs Mom’s tummy, I would read stories to Little Miss Diva at night and talk to her all the time. Occasionally, she would kick Mrs Mom’s tummy as she listened to me talk to her.

NETWORKmimicry-strong-connections.png

In the period of time when Mrs Mom was pregnant, I did a lot of research on (newborn) babies and found out lots of amazing facts, like how fragile a baby’s skull can be. Other than that, I also did some research about the baby’s growth and development. I did the research in order to help me get prepared when Little Miss Diva came into the world. I have to say, the research helped me a lot!

Research.jpg

Then, around the time when Mrs Mom was going to give birth, me and Mr Dad went to Mothercare to buy a bodysuit for Little Miss Diva that said “I LOVE MY BROTHER!” XD It looked so cute! I was sure that it would suit Little Miss Diva. The bodysuit was my first gift for her. We also bought a lot of other things for her too.

Finally, after a long wait, it was the time for Little Miss Diva to breathe her first breath of fresh air. The time when Little Miss Diva was born was an exhilarating moment. As soon as she came out of Mrs Mom’s tummy, she was crying like mad! A little while later, she managed to calm herself down. As she laid down on her bed, she looked so cute whilst she slept and snored. I was really looking forward to spending more time with her!

When she was first born, she was diagnosed with Cow’s Milk Allergy and couldn’t drink any milk other than Mrs Mom’s milk! Whenever she took in dairy products, her body would react badly and she would start to vomit. She had to get a special milk powder that was suitable for babies and toddlers who are lactose intolerant. She is beginning to eat more dairy products now but her body still reacts badly. The poor little thing is even allergic to her own birthday cake! 😦

As Little Miss Diva grew, me and her made lots of great memories. When she was around 7 months old, she grew her first tooth! I found that out on Saturday 19th July 2014. She was chewing on her teether a lot in this period of time. After that, Mrs Mom decided to teach Little Miss Diva to use a toothbrush at an early stage. That day was Monday 21st July 2014. Sometimes, she still wants me to brush her teeth though.

images.jpg

After that, on Tuesday 22nd July 2014, me and Mrs Mom discovered that she could clap her hands! As we were watching TV, Mrs Mom started cheering and told Little Miss Diva to clap. That’s when her new hidden talent was revealed! Unfortunately, Mr Dad was at work but we showed him as soon as he came home.

Later, she started to crawl on Wednesday 6th August 2014! Mr Dad was in the kitchen but Dadajee was also on FaceTime call to witness it. This was just one step before she would be walking so that would be good! When she started to crawl, she was very active and crawled everywhere.

boopstpatricks4.gif

Then, she started to talk to me when she was only 9 months old. That is very good for a normal baby. That means that she will learn quickly in the future! 😉 Now, she can finally share her thoughts with us!

Speech-bubbles-resized.jpg

Next came the time when she was walking secretly behind my back! I didn’t realise it until one day, I turned around and found her walking around and playing. When she saw me looking at her, she quickly sat down and did something else. Then, I asked her to walk again but she refused to do it. But, she was a pro when she walked with her knees. She could manage to walk all around the house with her knees! Later on, when we moved house in March 2015, she was still walking in her own special way which was using her knees! A little while later, her knees were swollen from all that walking with her knees because unlike our old house, the floor was oak flooring and that caused her knees to be swollen. From then on, she started using her feet for a good purpose!

baby-feet-first-steps.jpg

When she was younger, I enjoyed looking after her and giving her milk. Everyday, she would always ask me to read some books to her. There are also some times when she would read a book to me! This has been our daily routine since she was born until today. On other occasions, I will make chocolate spread sandwiches for her and feed her all the time.

self-improvement-books.jpg

From time to time, she would pray beside me and follow me as I prayed. Whenever she wants to pray with me, she will start to shout because she wants me to get her prayer mat out! Now and again, she will invite me to dance with her, except this time, I have to follow her! 😛

Only-a-Brother.jpg

Every so often, Little Miss Diva wants me to give her a bath. I still have to do that now. But, it’s fine with me because we have pawsome fun in the bath all the time. She will splash and play while I pour water over her and wash her. She can also wash herself, but only when she wants to. I love spending good quality time with her!

quality-time-project-with-frame-and-words.jpg

Suddenly, with no warning whatsoever, her personality changed a bit. First, she didn’t like to put girly clothes and accessories on but now, she’s a bit of a diva and likes to put dresses on all the time! She is also a big fan of Frozen, Minion and Mickey Mouse. Now, when I said Mickey Mouse, I didn’t mean BOTH Mickey and Minnie. I only meant Mickey Mouse because Little Miss Diva only likes him! I don’t know why she is like that.

Mickey_Mouse.png

Little Miss Diva has many good qualities in her. Of course, No. 1 would be that she’s super duper CUTE and BEAUTIFUL! She is also very protective whenever Mr Dad or Mrs Mom is angry with me or Baby A. She will go to them straight away and say “Don’t do that!” or “Stop!”. Another good quality that she has is kindness and friendliness. She loves playing with other people and likes to make friends. Little Miss Diva also likes to sing songs (especially Frozen songs like Let It Go!) and dance to them too! She also has a great imagination because when she plays with a toy, she will try to make the story real. For example, when she plays with her toy doll, she will put the doll in her push chair and pretend that she’s going shopping.

Me and Little Miss Diva enjoy doing plenty of things together. Sometimes we like to sing and dance together and in other times, we draw pictures with each other. On other occasions, we will play shopping with each other. I will be the shopkeeper and she will be the customer that buys things from my shop. Some other times, we will do some arts and crafts together. Little Miss Diva also loves pretending to cook with me. Little Miss Diva enjoys sharing her time with me. And of course, what every brother and sister likes to do…give each other a CUDDLE!!!!!

90031-Cuddle-With-Me-.jpg

I ,as a brother, think that Little Miss Diva is the best sister in the world! She has lots of good qualities, we enjoy spending time together and I love her more than anything in this world! After all, what would my life be like without her? She is a sister that is cute, kind, friendly and PAWSOME! I am super duper proud to have a little sister like her!

This year marks your second birthday my Little Miss Diva! I know that you’ve enjoyed your birthday cake and presents on Sunday. However, I would like to share a special poem which I’ve written especially for you…

My Little Miss Diva!

I am your brother

And you are my sister,

Every day together is like a fun twister!

I am always there

When you are hurt,

I’ll pick you up and brush off that dirt

You are my sister

And you’re like my friend,

You’ve got so much time that with me you can spend!

You are there

To keep me company,

When we are together, we are one big tree!

We’ll hold each others hands

And never let go,

We’ll make it through hard times and together we’ll grow

Tears of joy

And tears of sorrow,

Do not worry, it’ll be fine tomorrow

We’ll be close together

As we dance through life,

Listening to the birds that sound like a fife

We’ll get through it quick,

No matter what life sends,

We’ll be the pair that will somehow transcend!

We will fly,

High in the sky,

Like one big eagle,

Great and golden,

We will fly over the five oceans!

Never break apart,

Gotta stick together!

Never leave each other,

That way, we’ll be as swift as a feather!

Be one big family,

Make a never ending story!
