I’m Back!

snow picture

Hey pawsome peeps! Sorry I’ve been away for a while now. Don’t worry, I’m not ‘merajuk’! 😉 I just haven’t been able to update as much because I’ve been extremely busy with 1001 things at school. So, when I come back home I am totally exhausted!

Remember when I injured my eye? Well, a lot of things have happened since then! This year, I started teaching Handwriting Club once again and together with my colleague, I run the club twice a week for the Year 1 children! Alongside that, I have also recently been appointed as the Handwriting Mentor for my class! I help my fellow classmates to achieve their handwriting goals! By the way, I can’t wait to share some useful handwriting tips for parents out there!

Other than the role of Head Boy and Handwriting Mentor, I am also one of the school’s four ‘Arts Ambassadors’ – people who represent the school’s different arts (visual art, dancing, singing etc). We recently went on a trip to the Midlands Arts Centre! We visited an exhibition to see the work of other schools and their different takes on the arts.

Then came the PAWSOME event of the month – a taster day at King Edward’s School! I got the chance to experience what type of activities there are and what the lessons are like! It was great! Can’t wait to start my high school journey in September!

This week, my class are going to go to a workshop where we will build a prototype that we have previously designed in school! I’m sure it will be exciting!

So that’s a brief overview of what I’ve been up to lately. And don’t worry, I won’t disappear again! Also, be sure to keep an eye out for my next posts, in which I’ll be sharing a piece about one of my favourite authors! Till next time!

My Superhero Uncle!

herooven mamajee

Guess what? Mamajee won the 3rd place in Hero Oven! We couldn’t be more proud of him. We know how challenging it was for Mamajee. It’s a baking competition, which is quite out of Mamajee’s comfort zone, but he didn’t back away. He took the risk! Now look what he’s achieved! Congratulations Mamajee! We really look up on you for willing to accept the challenge. You never give up! You’re absolutely brilliant. You’re the best uncle anyone could ever wish for! You’re our idol Mamajee. You inspire us all. You’ll always be our superhero… 🏅

Happy 68th Birthday Dadajee!

dadajee 1.jpg

Dear Dadajee,

It’s 7th of January 2018, your 68th birthday! You’re the best grandfather anybody could ask for, so on your special day, I pray to God that He will reward you for all the good deeds you have done! May God grant you a long life, filled with good health and all the happiness in the world. May He make all your wishes come true and shower you with His eternal blessings. And most important of all, may He reserve you the best place in Heaven and enable you to be the richest man in Paradise! I really wish I could be there with you on such an occasion – I miss you a lot! Hopefully, we can all be together again soon!

Thank you for always being that person who stood by my side no matter what! You were continuously helping me, advising me and guiding me in life. You made many sacrifices, like when you volunteered to stay behind when everybody went on an outing, just to help time my tests when I was studying for the 11+. You stayed with me from morning till evening, making sure I prayed and ate on time too! Not only that, you made sure I had enough sleep and rest, so I didn’t overwork myself. But most of all, I want to say thank you for making us all smile, laugh and stay cheerful! Your jokes, warm hugs, and even your smile could light up the whole world!

Thank you for everything, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Your loving grandson,

Omar Mukhtar

Fatimah’s 4th Birthday!

*Dedicated to my li’l’ PAWSOME sister, Fatimah*

Time seems to fly sometimes, without you even knowing it, and this was especially true with Fatimah! It seems like only yesterday when I was 7 and Fatimah was born into the family, bringing joy and laughter. I can clearly remember when she was small enough to fit into my hands and only just starting to crawl – but look where she is now! She’s walkin’, talkin’ and as much of a diva as you can be (a lovely diva, that is)! And today, she’s…

TURNING 4!!!!!!!!

Yep, you read it right! It’s the 3rd of January 2018, a.k.a Fatimah’s 4th birthday, one of the most special dates in our family!

Fatimah is one of the best people I know, and I’m so glad to have her as a sister! She’s very loving, and protective when it comes to her family! She’s really confident in speaking, like when she’s doing ‘The Fatimah Show’. Fatimah also loves cooking, and enjoys making cookery videos, just like Mamajee @adamdidam. She absolutely loves it when he comes to visit because they will be able to do it together! She also likes me to cook with her and I must admit, it’s quite an enjoyable experience! The first time I cooked with her, I was expecting her to ask for help, but in the end, she was the one helping me! I guess she’s mastered all the techniques because she always helps Mr Dad when he’s cooking!

Fatimah is also a playful and imaginative girl. She enjoys making stories with her toys, running a pretend restaurant with them as the customers and making sure her brother Ali has a part by putting him in the role of head chef, or going on a trek through the forest! Speaking of which, she’s VERY active! She always manages to get exercise, inside or outside, doing things like yoga and dancing, especially to Bollywood songs! But above all, she’s always well-behaved and highly mannered. Another favourite hobby of hers is arts and crafts. Cutting, sticking, painting, making collages, she loves it all! Not to forget, I’m glad that me and Fatimah share the same hobby, READING, as I have ORD (Obsessive Reading Disorder! 😉 ) She enjoys storytelling too!

These are only a few of the reasons I feel blessed to have Fatimah as a sister! I couldn’t have asked for more from God! On her 4th birthday, she’s already such a mature child! Fatimah, I wish you all the best for the future! May God shower you with His eternal blessings and keep you in His safeguarding! I wanted to give you a special birthday present for you this year, since you’re so grown up, and I decided that instead of a poem, I’d give you something special that you could keep with you, always. So here it is below – a special drawing of you, from a brother to a sister! I used lots and lots of colours to capture your loving, lively and playful personality, so it can remind you of your childhood, to tell you to always remain carefree, and of course, to let you remember that we will all be with you in your heart, and you’ll be in ours!

Wishing you a very happy 4th birthday,

Your Lalajee,

You Cannot Tell

you cannot tell ph2

I first saw him in the window of my living room. He was wearing a worn out, black bowler hat and a brown leather coat. His eyes were illuminated on his dark, shadowy face. He was carrying what seemed to be a blade. Other people would have been terrified but I just stood there, sort of transfixed by his appearance. He came the next night, this time looking into the kitchen. A red rose replaced the knife in his hand. I wondered why he was coming to my house. Perhaps he was homeless. It was 7 days later when I started to become worried, though. He had been coming to my house and looking through the windows for a whole week and on Monday he had come with a knife again – it had blood stains on the tip. I thought about calling the police, but would that make me his next victim? I shuddered. I decided to stay put in my bedroom, lock all the doors and shut all the curtains. I soon dozed off.

The next morning, I was no longer in my bedroom. I was on the floor of my living room. A chalk outline surrounded me. Nobody else was there. I was very confused. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something come out of the wall. It was shadowy, scruffy, a tall figure looming like a tower. I turned around and saw that it was the man that I had seen in the window, pale-faced and untidy. He was holding the same blood-stained knife; it glinted faintly in the dim light. He gave me an icy stare, then leapt at me. His knife jutted out and he cried out in rage. I screamed and rolled over to dodge him, the knife swishing past and narrowly missing my head. He dived through the floor, like it was some kind of eerie wooden swimming pool. I crawled backwards to the sofa, bewildered as to where he was. Suddenly, he sprang out, shouting in anger. His face was nearly scarlet, his scruffy eyebrows highly slanted. I flinched as he flew through the air towards me. His coat was splattered with flecks of blood. I wanted to move but it seemed like I was glued to where I was. He brushed my shoulder, but as soon as he laid his hand on me, a bright white light lit up the room. The man howled as his hand glowed red. It must have burned, seared, split his palm open. Slowly, he started to disappear, like smoke wafting away from its chimney. Oh, how he shrieked! The sound echoed around the room. It rang inside my ears, it slowly mauled my brain. I closed my eyes tightly, nearly gluing them shut. When I reopened them, I was alone in the room. Everything was silent. No blood. No knife. No hat. No man. Just me, in the room of the house. I could hear police sirens wailing outside. They reminded me of banshees, sobbing in mourning. Apparently, my neighbour had heard the screaming and shouting.

From then on, I was alone in my house. No one came to visit, no one stood outside the windows. But one day, the doorbell rang, and outside was a black bowler hat, a rose, a knife and a note:

‘You cannot tell.’

I love my new self!

As some of you might have noticed, Sunday is my day off. I have decided that once a week, I will have a one-day holiday. So, I will not be posting anything on Sunday. I will just be replying to comments and so on. If I have time, I might watch a movie too! It’s kinda like freedom for a day, I guess.

Sadly, Dr. Auntie has left (AGAIN!! 😡 ) So, I need to be back to reality. But, I just can’t seem to get out of my honeymoon mood. Luckily, I got back to my normal self just in time for school. But for me, school was boring and I usually like school. 😐 Maybe it was because we didn’t do anything interesting or exciting. There’s always a downside in everyone’s lives, though. It happens every once in a while.

Anyway, there’s nothing much to talk about school but it might be better tomorrow coz I’ve got Keyboard Club! There’s bound to be something PAWSOME happening then. I might teach the class again or maybe all of us could play the whole song together! Who knows what future has in store for me? I’ve also got two meetings to attend tomorrow. One is the second Student Council Meeting and the other one is the first meeting for the boys only writing club. Busy days for me! I’ll let you know what’s happened tomorrow in my post. Until then, goodbye!!

tomorrow

p/s: Still can’t get over how good I look now!!! 😀

Laffy Taffy!

In the last few posts, you’ve only seen my casual and serious style of writing. But, you haven’t seen my creative side yet! Other than writing, music has always been my passion. Even when I’m writing, I listen to Mozart at the same time. Mozart helps to stimulate my brain more. But not only Mozart, I do love various types of music.

W4pUSwF

When I was in Moseley (old school), I used to have a band called “The Five Diamonds”. As the name clearly says, there were five of us (best friends) in the band. There was a girl named Ellie, who played the drums, another girl called Natalia, who was a dancer and twins called Antony and Alex. Alex played the fife and Antony sang with me. I have also written a few songs in the past. One of them was for my Dream T-Shirt Boutique and the rest were mostly for the band.

Anyway, remember the post about chocolate mayhem? Well, Uncle Fun has sort of ‘challenged’ me to write a song about Laffy Taffy. For some of you who can’t remember, Laffy Taffy was the brand for my chocolate. Today, I was thinking of what to post when all of a sudden, this idea hit me! I accepted Uncle Fun’s challenge and have a complete song waiting for you!!! 😉

This will also show you my creative side as well as entertaining you.

LAFFY TAFFY

(lyrics by The Pawsome Lion)

Laffy Taffy, it’s really yuffy,

It’ll make you laugh all day long.

Laffy Taffy,

Sold it to my mate named Miffy,

Gave it to her Grandma Jaffy.

Laffy Taffy, it’s so good,

Some people hide it under their hood.

It’s divine, it’s delicious,

It’s scrumptious not vicious.

It’s twisty, it’s turny,

It’s bendy and curvy.

It’s the Laffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy all day long!

Laffy Laffy, Taffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy…

I may not be Wonka but I can dance to Conga,

Coz J.O’s my brotha from anotha motha.

I may not have Loompas but I do have Toompas.

Try and close my factory down, I’ll make yours tumble to the ground.

I might not be toughy but I’m always laughy.

My Uncle Fun won’t believe it but I needed to achieve it,

Coz it’s Laffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy all night long!

Laffy Laffy, Taffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy…

When Harry met Sally, Choccy met Taffy.

This is no black or white, this is coco loves pinky.

When Barbie hugged Ken, Choccy hugged Taffy.

Let’s not get too warm or else we will melt,

Then all that is left, just a messy puddle,

So it’s Laffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy till it’s dawn!

Laffy Laffy, Taffy Taffy, Laffy Taffy Laffy Taffy…

Here’s a video of me singing it! Excuse me and my croaky voice. I had a sore throat! 😦

One Stepping Stone At a Time

I recently launched my own magazine called KAKKOII back in September 2015. KAKKOII is the Japanese word for COOL. I did 3 volumes on KAKKOII until me and Mrs. Mom thought that it was all too much for us because:

  1. It’s time consuming because I have to think of the theme, then make a cover page, typed all my writing, print it out, cut it, paste it onto paper to make the magazine, design it, colouring, etc.
  2. It took up most of my time because everything was handmade.
  3. I struggled to do it with Little Miss Diva around because she was jealous of me and wanted to make her own magazine too. Don’t even get me started on Baby ‘A’.
  4. People at school didn’t have time to read it.
  5. If people wanted to read it, I need to go to Miss Chesney and photocopy the latest issue then distribute it to every class in the whole school. (there goes my lunch break) 😦

Because the magazine was popular at school and everybody likes it and looked forward to it every week, I decided to find a replacement. FYI, I’ve been writing at a very young age. I have a lot of stuff which is writing related like poems, stories, comics, business plan for my dream T-shirt boutique etc. On top of that, I still have my paintings, drawings, art models, origami pieces, my traditional Malaysian “Batik” painting, and 1001 other stuff too! Mrs. Mom said “The Pawsome Lion, you are officially the first hoarder lion in the world!”

So, me and Mrs. Mom got to thinking and we thought that there was not a better solution to solve my hoarding problem then to start a blog. Plus the blog was open to everyone, not only those in my school but to the whole world. People could access it whenever they wanted and I don’t have to hand anything out to anyone. I just sit down with Mrs. Mom and get on with it. The best thing about my blog is that all my writing will be kept safe forever!

Since the magazine was already a hit (at least I think so) 😀 I’ve decided to keep most of the ideas in KAKKOII for my blog. In the near future, you’ll be seeing more stuff like:

  • PAWSOME Jokes
  • PAWSOME Facts
  • PAWSOME Quotes
  • Oh My Language
  • Fun-Ville!
  • Books4Brains
  • Popcorn Time
  • A Piece of Cake
  • Tastylicious
  • The Mini Critic
  • An Apple A Day

And lots more PAWSOME topics! From time to time, I will also be sharing my previous work which I like the most. Don’t worry, I won’t end up posting all of them! I PROMISE 😉

It has been 5 days since I first started this PAWSOME blog. It’s proven that the decision to shift from KAKKOII to blog is all worth it! Even though many people was against the idea of burying KAKKOII in the first place, I can now assure that they will change their mind. Reading my blog has become a daily thing in Hazel class. How KAKKOII is it to have a ROARSOME friends like mine? 😀

(5 Dojo Points to Amaan for the word ROARSOME!) 😉

‘Till next time peeps! Have a PAWSOME weekend.

Hello World!

Hey pawsome peeps! I’m a groovy little man that is based in Birmingham, UK. You can call me “The Pawsome Lion”. I absolutely adore writing. It has been my thing since I was little. Everyone in my family has supported me and encouraged me to write, especially my dearest Dr. Auntie and my OCD Uncle! Because of my passion for writing, I have decided to start a blog. Since I am only 9 years old, me and my partner, Mrs. Mom, will be working together to make this blog a success! However, all the ideas and writing are a 100% completely my copyright. I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

p/s: Don’t forget to leave comments!

Thanks,

TPL.
